The most variable field experience that I experienced in this course was the Data Overview. This experience exposed me drilling down on the data analysis of the state criterion referenced test (CRCT) over a period of time. It helps me learn how to break down and read the analysis of data in multiple ways. It provided me with the opportunity to compare data among grade levels and identify the school's strengths and weaknesses in order to devise plan for improvements within the entire school. I was even able to identify achievement gaps within the school compared to the district and state. This experience helped me to see how a data overview would be beneficial for administrators to make major decisions as far as the shifts and dynamics of the school.
I plan to continue to apply what I learned in order to analyze data to guide my daily instruction. I plan to continue to apply this knowledge when collaborating with my team members to make decisions for weekly planning to increase student learning. I also plan to attempt team collaboration amongst grade levels.
One challenge that I anticipate to continue is that there is not much collaboration among the grade levels. Each grade level collaborate amongst themselves. However, two or more teams never meet together to discuss data. It would be extremely beneficial for grade levels to collaborate in order to bridge the achievement gaps within the school.
